Notepan 2.0.0

Latest
Released June 19, 2026
Tab library
  • Free content — some tablatures in the Online Library are now freely accessible, no Premium subscription required
  • Advanced search filters — search by difficulty, scale, artist, category and author
  • The library now features curated sections — Most Popular, Trending, Hidden Gems, Community Highlights, Top Artists and more
  • Transposition preview — hover over any tablature to see its compatibility with each of your personal handpans, displayed as a percentage (100% = perfect match).
  • Likes — show your appreciation for a tablature with a like. Likes are used to surface the most popular pieces in the library and power our rankings.
Handpans
  • Personal handpans list — your own handpans in a dedicated list, separate from the catalog
  • Your personal handpans are saved to your account and automatically synced across all your devices
  • Drag & drop bottom notes to position them precisely on your handpan
  • Flat notes support (♭) in addition to sharps (♯)
  • New note numbering options — number notes from lowest to highest, use B for bottom notes, or keep the default. You can also define your own custom numbering.
  • Chord visualizer — highlight and play all available chords on your handpans
  • ± 1 semitone actions — quickly shift an instrument's pitch up or down by one semitone
  • Duplicate handpans — save time by duplicating an existing handpan instead of creating a new one from scratch
My tabs
  • Create folders to organize your personal tablatures
  • Cloud storage — your personal tabs are now saved to the cloud and synced across all your devices. You don't need to transfer them manually anymore.
  • Trash bin with 30-day retention — deleted tabs now go to the trash instead of being permanently removed. You have 30 days to restore them before they're gone for good.
  • Improved published tabs management — a cleaner interface to manage the tabs you've published in the library, allowing you to update or remove them with ease
  • New display options — sort and browse your personal tablatures by scale, recent activity, folder or name
  • Added a 'Duplicate tablature' functionality. It was about time...
Tablature editor
  • Multi-tab editing — open multiple tablatures at the same time in separate tabs, just like a browser. No more switching back and forth between files.
  • Auto-save & crash recovery — your work is now automatically saved at regular intervals. If the app crashes or closes unexpectedly, your tablature is restored exactly where you left off.
  • Zoom in and out on tablatures to adjust the display to your comfort and reading preference. Also ideal to see the notes from a distance when you play along.
  • Improved PDF export — portrait mode, black & white, custom scale, font size and more customization options
  • Improved transposition — non transposable notes are no longer removed from the tablature. Instead, they are replaced by a grayed-out placeholder showing the target note. This target note is not played during playback since it doesn't exist on the new handpan, but you can see exactly which note was intended and replace it manually with your own choice.
  • Setting to display note names instead of note numbers
  • Setting to display notes in black instead of blue and orange
  • Setting to increase the font size of the notes
Other changes
  • Modernized user interface — the application interface has been completely redesigned to support all the new features while providing a cleaner, more modern, and more intuitive experience
  • In-App account management — manage your account information, subscription, and payment details directly from within the application
  • Automatic crash reports — when something goes wrong, Notepan now automatically sends an error report to help improve the app
  • Performance improvements — playback and tablature rendering have been significantly optimized. While the difference won't be noticeable on desktop, these improvements were a necessary step toward supporting the upcoming mobile application.
  • Bug fixes — we've fixed many issues across the application to improve stability, reliability, and overall user experience

Notepan 1.2.0

Released June 16, 2024
General
  • Added a new dedicated "Courses" section — Notepan is now partnering with handpan schools and teachers to provide the content of their courses in tablature format, accessible directly in the app! Our first partner is Malte Marten Method, and you can now find their course "Handpan Fundamentals" in Notepan.
Tablature editor
  • Sections & subsections — add labels above bars such as "Intro", "Verse 1", "Chorus", "Part A", "A-1", "A-2", etc. All labels appear as bookmarks in the side menu, letting you jump directly to any section with a single click.
  • Annotations — add notes, comments or lyrics directly in your tablature
  • Line break — forces the bar to start on a new line, useful for spacing out your tablature or clearly separating sections of a piece.
  • Fill color — highlight notes or passages by coloring individual cells, just like in a spreadsheet. Great for marking patterns, variations or key moments in a piece.
  • Added the "Collection" feature — a Collection lets you bundle and organize multiple tablatures into a single file. Perfect for sharing exercises, lessons or full courses without scattering individual files.

Tablature editor
  • Transposition — transpose a piece from one handpan scale to another, for example from D Kurd to F# Low Pygmy. The app finds the best possible note mapping when a perfect transposition isn't available.
  • Export your tablatures to PDF, WAV or MP3.
  • Swap hands — a shortcut to swap the right and left hand parts, no need to erase and rewrite.
  • New note effect: Finger roll — a rapid rolling motion across a note to make it ring two or three times in quick succession.
Playback
  • Playback loop — select a section of the tablature and play it on repeat. Perfect for practicing a difficult passage at your own pace.
  • Built-in metronome — enable the metronome during playback to keep a steady tempo while you play.
  • Countdown — add a customizable countdown before playback starts. Gives you time to get your hands in position and start playing along.
